The process of the BMU and its installation
Building maintenance units, also called BMUs, are facade access equipment for cleaning, conservation, and repair. At GPBMU, we offer different types of technology based on each of our clients' needs.
The installation process for any technology has two preliminary steps that we cover in GPBMU with our services. These steps are, first, the engineering process, and, second, the manufacturing process.
During the engineering phase, technical documentation is created, various relevant calculations for equipment installation, 2D and 3D equipment design, and electrical engineering processes. Additionally, at GPBMU, we are involved from the building design phase to guarantee solutions that integrate with the architecture and provide effective responses to the client’s needs.
After the engineering phase, we build the machine in our factories. Being manufacturers sets us apart and allows us to guarantee each and every material and component used in our facade access solutions. Additionally, our operators and engineers work together to reduce the number of incidents to zero during any part of the process.
BMUs
The installation of our gondolas depends on the model required by the client. At GPBMU, we offer 4 types of gondolas.
The GPN model is one of the most versatile machines and is used in projects of all kinds of heights, with simple roofs where the machine moves freely alongside the parapet. It has two booms and allows a reach of about 4-5 meters. Due to its versatility, the installation has several options: movements via rails or wheels for concrete tracks; rotating crown; pin system; control in the core and others.
The GPI model is used in buildings of any height range with straight or negative facades, with the installation of a pantograph. The final installation is always custom-made and is equipped with various options: telescopic booms; luffing booms; parking table; radio control; multiple layers of up to 500 meters; movements via rails or wheels in the case of concrete tracks; telescopic mast; rotating crown; rotating head; pin system; control in the core and others.
The GPIT model is used in buildings of any height range with straight or negative facades. Thanks to its telescopic arm, it is the machine that offers the greatest reach. It operates easily on roofs with multiple obstacles and can be mounted with a pantograph to provide access to recessed facades. Due to its characteristics, the installation has the same options as the GPI model.
The GCM model uses small-sized motorized baskets and offers performance similar to other machines, with limited use for buildings up to 120 meters. The installation of this model is advantageous regarding the motorized basket, as the same basket can be used in other systems such as other GCMs, davits, etc.
Davits
The davits are the economical and effective solution for simple challenges. The use of this machine becomes convenient when the building's load-bearing capacity or roof configuration makes the installation of a gondola system impossible. They are fixed with a turnbuckle that facilitates their assembly on different bases. They also have an internal safety cable and are used in combination with a one- or two-person motorized basket with a load capacity of up to 350kg.
Monorails
The monorails are the solution for buildings that do not allow machinery installation on the roof. The assembly of the monorail involves the installation of brackets around the building's entire perimeter, through which a motorized basket for one or two people will move.
Monorails can also be installed inside buildings for the maintenance of structures at height.
Gantry
The gantries are the solution for internal and external maintenance of glazed structures. They are systems mounted on rails that allow access to hard-to-reach surfaces where direct contact with glass is not recommended. They can incorporate motorized baskets for one or two people or have specially designed bridges for one or more operators.
Suspended platforms
The suspended platforms for work at height are characterized by their lightness and at the same time their resistance and robustness, providing the necessary security in each case.
In addition to controlling the entire process, at GPBMU we adjust the platform design to strictly meet the client's needs and current regulations.
