Building maintenance units, also known as BMUs, are equipment for accessing façades for cleaning, maintenance, and repair. At GPBMU we offer the following types of technology according to the needs of each of our clients:
- Davits
- Monorails
- Gantries
- Platforms
- Gondolas
In this article we will focus on the gondolas for façades, the star product of our company. We have been designing and manufacturing gondolas since our foundation, ensuring quality and safety in each one of them. We will now define them, explain their usage and introduce the standard models that we produce at GPBMU.
The gondola for the maintenance and cleaning of façades is a suspended platform, held by a structure that allows the gondola to make different movements, so that it covers the entire surface of the façade. It is used for both façade maintenance and cleaning.
At GPBMU we design the gondolas according to the needs of each client, and we also have four standard models, which we explain below.
The GPN model is characterised by its great versatility. So much so that it can be used in projects of various heights, and also on simple roofs where the machine moves freely along the parapet of the building (the safety element on roofs). Its versatility means that the reach of the gondola is limited, and for that reason we assign the GPN for use on buildings with straight or negative façades, with the addition of a pantograph. The range of this model is up to approximately 4 or 5 metres.
The GPI model is used in buildings of all height ranges, either with straight or negative façades (by adding a pantograph). It has a mono-bearing arm that facilitates a long reach; this feature together with its height makes this model the ideal solution for roofs where obstacles hinder the movement of the BMU along the parapet. These obstacles on roofs can be lifts, ventilation systems or antennas. Its adaptation to roofs with obstacles means that the final installation is always tailor-made to meet the requirements of each building.
The GPIT model is characterised by having the longest reach of any BMU offered by GPBMU, made possible by its telescopic arm. It is the perfect solution in buildings where a single machine must ensure access to the various façade projections, and also on roofs where obstacles make it difficult to move the machine along the parapet. This model operates easily on roofs with multiple obstacles, and a pantograph can also be mounted in addition to provide access to receding façades.
The GCM model is a compact and efficient solution. It is a trolley that uses small, motorised baskets. Therefore, its use is limited to buildings up to 120 metres, with simple façades and clear roofs. Its main advantage is that there is the possibility of using the same motorised basket for different façade maintenance systems, which means the motorised basket can be used with other machines in addition to the BMU.
As you can see, GPBMU offers a variety of solutions to meet the needs of each building. If you rely on our BMUs, you will enjoy the efficiency of machinery designed specially to meet the objectives of your business.
