Technical challenges:
The installation of the BMU was required many years after the building construction and therefore we had to deal with a roof full of obstacles (chillers, chimneys, elevator room…) this demanded a great effort to design the rail path.
Our solution:
The GPBMU team manufactured a very light machine to be able to work with a narrow rail gauge (800 mm / 31 in). Some traversing movements were automated to overcome roof obstacles safety.
The roof car equipped a hydraulic luffing jib and a slewing ring to allow in-roof parking, reducing the visual impact on the facade.
Also, a material hoist was installed in the BMU. This allows the use of a Glass Replacement Unit (GRU).
